Project ASCEND Grant Recipients
L3 Mentoring
Our first grant was awarded to the Lovely Ladies of Laurel Mentoring Program towards to the creation of a teen camp reaching over 100 low-income girls, in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. We have since awarded them over $2,500 in funding.
Laptop Grants
According to the Pew Research Center, 16% of U.S. households do not have home computers. In response, Project ASCEND began surprising low-income and undocumented students at High Point High School with brand new laptops to help them achieve their academic goals and dreams.
The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund
Gaza is now home to the largest number of children amputees in the world. Project ASCEND has chosen to take a stand against genocide in Palestine in support of the many children left with lifelong disabilities and trauma due to this senseless violence. Project ASCEND has awarded grant funding to The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and we encourage you to donate too by visiting www.pcrf.net.
Giveback Nigeria
We awarded a grant to the Giveback NigeriaLibrary Programme. This nonprofit organization will use these funds to establish a library at Cole Orphanage, Benin City, in the South Western Edo State of Nigeria. This initiative will support youth between the ages of 5 – 18 years with books and training materials to become transformational leaders in their communities and society at large.
The Sudan Solidarity Collective
The West has ignored genocide in Black nations like Sudan due to racism and anti-Blackness. Project ASCEND is committed to bringing attention to the conflict in Sudan and ensuring victims receive support. We have done this by awarding the Sudan Solidarity Collective (SSC) grant funding. They’re an organization providing direct resources to those hardest hit by Sudan’s militarized state violence.
