Project ASCEND is a non-profit organization that sponsors college scholarships and community grant programs that equip youth with civic engagement opportunities.

Project ASCEND was founded in 2011 with the mission to create higher education opportunities for marginalized and disadvantaged young people across the globe.

Project ASCEND’s initiatives have reached hundreds of young people living in Washington, D.C., West Africa and Central America.

Grants for Social Justice Initiatives

Project ASCEND grant recipient, Giveback Nigeria, established a library at Cole Orphanage, Benin City, in the South Western Edo State of Nigeria. This initiative supports youth between the ages of 5 – 18 years with books and training materials to become transformational leaders in their communities and society at large. Our Global Impact

Project ASCEND awarded a grant to the Population Council’s Abriendo Oportunidades program in Guatemala. Our funding supports increases in Mayan girls’ social support networks, connect them with role models and mentors, build a base of critical life and leadership skills, provide hands-on professional training and experience, critical investments in girls aged 8–19.

College Scholarships for Disabled Students

We provide college scholarships to low-income and disabled youth, funding for women’s education programs, support for mentorship groups and literacy programs.
